METAL IN THE CHICKEN – Tyson RECALL – Review by Juravin

Processed food is bad, explains Don Juravin, and gives us another example of why we should eat healthy food and not process bad food.

Almost 12 million pounds of chicken strips have been recalled because they might be contaminated with pieces of metal, according to the USDA.

The recall began in March with 69,093 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strips, but the warning was reissued and expanded Saturday morning. The updated recall now includes 11,829,517 pounds of chicken.

Don Juravin points out that these items were shipped nationwide and to the U.S. Virgin Islands. The problem came to light when two consumers complained of “extraneous material” in the chicken strips, the USDA confirms. Investigators are now aware of six complaints involving similar pieces of metal, three of which reported an oral injury.

Products included in the recall include:

  • Tyson fully cooked crispy chicken strips in 25-ounce and 40-ounce bags;
  • Publix fully cooked crispy chicken fritters
  • Kirkwood buffalo style chicken strips
  • Best Choice Buffalo-style chicken strips in 20-ounce bags
  • Great Value fully cooked chicken strips in 25-ounce bags
  • Food Lion crispy chicken strips in 25-ounce bags.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Tyson Foods, Inc., is recalling nearly 12 million pounds of frozen chicken strip products that could be contaminated with pieces of metal, federal safety officials said in a news release.

Don Juravin review exposes something interesting: the problem was revealed when FSIS received two complaints, but the agency said it is now aware of six overall complaints.

According to FSIS, products recalled include Tyson fully cooked crispy chicken strips in 25-ounce and 40-ounce bags; Tyson fully cooked Buffalo-style chicken strips in 25-ounce and 40-ounce bags; Tyson fully cooked honey BBQ flavored chicken strips in 25-ounce bags; Best Choice Buffalo-style chicken strips in 20-ounce bags; Great Value fully cooked chicken strips in 25-ounce bags; and Food Lion crispy chicken strips in 25-ounce bags.

  3. As more articles are released exposing the food industry, the more we come to a realization that it is all about the business. Time and time again we see food being included with harmful materials, yet this goes “unrecognized” for continuously for years. Is it that we love money so much that we no longer care about the health of the human race?

Now I’m scared to buy Tyler products. I don’t want to risk my health or my children’s health eating something that I’m not sure I can trust. Thank you, Don Juravin, for this article.
